Night Lights Denver is a central component of Supernova, offering an active, nightly engagement with digital motion artworks commissioned by Denver Digerati. Artists are selected based on their previous intersections with Supernova programming, and their adherence to pioneering digital techniques. Works are presented looping each evening commencing around 7 pm on the facade of the Daniels & Fisher Clock Tower, Denver’s most iconic and historic building located in the center of Downtown. The non-traditional format offers artists an opportunity to compose and express their creativity in new ways, for an exclusive public forum that is seen by thousands of visitors throughout the month.

While brainstorming about what this Night Lights Denver animation commission should look like and what themes it should have, I could not stop thinking about my first time in Colorado in 2018, I visited the garden of the gods, rented an AIRbnd at about 8000 ft above sea level at the Rocky Mountains, as someone who grew up in the Dominican Republic and got to spend time at my mother’s childhood home up in the northern mountains of the country, to me this stay was magical. I will be taking inspiration from mountainscapes and desert scapes to create somewhat of an abstract desert/mountain mirage. I will be using my usual stylistic elements of colorful patterns and pallets with realistic textures and materials such as grass, metal, and other shiny surfaces.

On A WILD WEST, I will be using objects that can be found in deserts and mountains like cactuses, flowers, rocks, wood, and grass or hay, I will also be using other shapes like geometrical objects such as helixes, cubes, spheres, and toruses as well as my usual favorite item to use on my pieces I will include a chain. These items will be arranged in a box-like container to make it seem as if they were solely inside the building.
